Journey in Life
Steve Job once said that everything in life that you do has a purpose and will start to manifest itself once all the dots are linked to serve a bigger purpose in life. Looking at my life, I really feel that it is so. The many skills that one has learn that doesn’t seem to make sense at some point in life will start having its use when you have to serve a bigger objective. The principle applies to both business and love.
This time round I will have to pen down a story that I intended for my ex-gf if we are fated to be married. However now it is just a story that will not be delivered and will only be a story that will exist on my blog. I wanted to pen down this story as it aligns my emotional beliefs and also my business beliefs with the idea of believing that every journey and people that appears in your life has a reason to serve a bigger purpose.
So here it goes,
When I was young, I was given many opportunities to learn how to swim. However no matter how many people have bothered to teach me to swim properly, I never managed to even make it for a lap in the pool. Next come army where the torturous sergeant and PTI will drill you to the max to make sure you can swim a lap in the pool. The funny thing is I will always be able to swim near the end of the pool and will not be able to complete the full lap no matter how many times I try.
However the turn of the tide came when my ex-gf went to learn swimming and after she has mastered it, we went on a few swimming trip and with her around, I am finally able to swim one full lap. At that moment, I felt that she is someone that can complete my journey in life just like how she has helped me to complete one lap in the swimming pool. I have made this analogous to a journey in life that you require someone to complete with you, something that you can not complete alone and will only be able to accomplish with a special someone.
As much as man wanted certain things to work out, heaven has not willed it to happen the way you wanted it. I have intended to complete my life journey with my ex-gf, making the end of the pool as the end point of my life that I can voyage with her. I have swam one lap in the pool, but perhaps I am destined to swim more than just a pool, maybe I am supposed to sail the oceans and braved the storm. The moral of the story is to tell us that although things might prove to be hurting and unacceptable at one point of time where you are unable to take the pain and has to live through it, it is perhaps meant to prepare you for better things in life. Which brings me back to the days I was in my secondary school, I got my sec 2 results and am not able to make it to the best class due to my poor math result. To me that is a disgrace as I am always the few top student in class and not being able to go to the top class is an insult. I finally come to terms with it and start working on my math, finally during my O’level result I got a 12pts for 6 subjects, scoring A1 for my math and 3 other subjects. Only then do I realize that it is a blessing in disguise when I did not make it to the best class as it has decreased my complacency and motivated me to work harder for what I want.
I can go through many more examples but I will save on the details. The point is that one must always live with the temporal pain inflicted on them, live positively, learn from bad experiences and emerge stronger thereafter. Some things are not meant for you in life perhaps it is not for you in the first place and is there to complete a small but important journey in life. I read a comic some times ago and it talks about a spirit who was once a genius in Wei Qi (Chinese chess- GO), who has came back to the modern time where only a boy can see him. He guided the boy in the game and wanted to seek the perfect game which he has yet to find even when he died. And one day, he realize that he is not destined to come back in order to complete the perfect game, he is in fact present for the sake of the boy who is in fact having more hidden talent then he has and was back in order to help the boy to complete the perfect game.
It brings to light that certain people in your life appear so that they can bring out a better you and their appearance should be appreciated no matter how short lived it is. Be it your parents, your past relationships, your friends, your spouse, your children and grandchildren. They have all appear in your life to serve a purpose to better your life and your part is to identify why they are in your life that will build you, appreciate their presence and thank them for being there in your life no matter how short it is.
In the other perspective, your existence is also important to other people’s life and you have appeared in other people’s life to bring value to their life. Hence we must be able to understand the value each person in your life has brought to you so that you can enhance your capability and bring more value to the people that you have existed for.
All in all, all these can only be achieved if a person is equipped with the positive belief that all things happen for a reason and they are usually positive so as to serve a bigger and higher purpose in life. Only then can they identify how they can receive from others and give values to others in return. Always believe in the higher purpose and appreciate all those around you =D

Perhaps you would like to read the book called 'The five people you meet in heaven'.
We are what we chose to be and what we chose to be are what we chose to think.
Sounds like a good book coz I am a fervent believer of a person is made up by his thoughts. Just let me clear my mountains "TO READ" list first ^^
